In the Fall of 2019, I had the opportunity to do directed research with the chair of our Agnes Scott College Public Health Department, Dr. Rachel Hall-Clifford. She along with her team has created a mHealth device for midwives to use when checking vitals of pregnant mothers in rural Guatemala. There are also other relavent components of this intervention. They have received a grant to fund the program for 5 years, but Dr. HC wanted my help with creating a sustainable cost structure for their program. First, I reviewed qualitative research on geographical regions in Guatemala in which midwives have used a pregnancy monitoring device to deliver a healthy baby. Then I used the existing budget to create a sustainable cost structure model using excel sheets. I chose to display this cost structure in a simpler way through the use of a chart, and infographic.
